The 2014 Winter Olympics doesn’t officially start until Friday, February 7th, but why not go ahead and get a kick start on the celebration with us here at the Railroad & Heritage Museum? Join the museum for a free Winter Olympics Family Day event on Saturday, February 1, 2014 from 11:00am to 1:00pm. We’ll get you prepped for the excitement complete with a take home score sheet and the chance to make your very own Olympic torch and medal. Make sure to bring your competitive spirit—there will be a game or two to test the skills of both parents and kids! Learn about the Olympics and the sports that make up the Winter games. Barrel train rides will also be offered, dependent on the weather.
“Our Family Day events are a chance to explore some of the things that are going on around the world and in our community,” said Museum Director Stephanie Long. “As a life-long fan of the Olympics, I’m looking forward to sharing the excitement of the games with our Family Day visitors.”
The Temple Railroad and Heritage Museum hosts a free Family Day event on the first Saturday of each month. Attendance at the event is free. Regular admission charges apply to view the rest of the museum. The museum is located in the Santa Fe Depot at 315 West Avenue B in downtown Temple. The museum is open 10am – 4pm, Tuesday – Saturday.
