The Communication Room chronicles all aspects of historical railway communication. An operational telegraph exhibit is location along the north wall. On special occasions, retired operators demonstrate their skill by sending "orders" over the telegraph "line."

A telegraph key and sounder (including the tobacco can) in placed into "service" on special occasions.

Telephone communication was available along some main lines. Here is a sampling of the equipment used.

From the more recent past is this CTC (Centralized Traffic Control) panel used by the Santa Fe Railroad until the 1990s.

A test table used to check out the communication lines that ran on the infamous telephone poles that were once beside the track. These poles were usually spaced 40 to each mile.
