Research Services

The Railroad & Heritage Museum, Archives receives a large number of requests for information.  Several of the new collections have not yet been fully cataloged, such as the Richard Scholz and Dean Hale Collections.  As a result, it may take longer to answer certain questions, so please be patient.  A research fee may be assessed.  This fee will depend upon the amount of time needed to complete the research.

When making a request, please be as specific as possible, and include an address and telephone number.  To request information or to volunteer, contact Craig Ordner at craig.rrhm@sbcglobal.net or 254-298-5190.

Everyone is welcome to visit the archives and library, but an appointment for research is highly recommended.

Notice:  Warning Concerning Copyright Restrictions

The Copyright Law of the United States (Title 17, United States Code) governs the making of photocopies or other reproductions of copyrighted material.

Under certain conditions specified by law, libraries and archives are authorized to furnish a photocopy or other reproduction.  One of these specified conditions is that the photocopy or reproduction is not to be “used for any purpose other than private study, scholarship, or research.”  If a user makes a request for, or later uses, a photocopy or reproduction for purpose in excess of “fair use,” that user may be liable for copyright infringement.

This institution reserves the right to refuse to accept a copy order if, in its judgment, fulfillment of the order would involve violation of a copyright law.  The applicant assumes full responsibility for any infringement of copyright, or publication rights belonging to the author, his successors, heirs, or assigns.

  4. Where the archives owns copyright in any record reproduced, it shall not by reason of the delivery of such reproduction at the request of the applicant be deemed to have assigned or otherwise transferred the copyright thereto.
